Clearing Fears Using Hypnotherapy
Fears,
phobias, panic, anxiety, hesitation are all related to fear. Anxiety is
technically different to fear, see the anxiety
link
for more details. Fear is very prevalent in society, and can prevent us
from doing the things that we want, it causes us to avoid things we
really don't want to avoid. When something makes us afraid, the chances
are that your subconscious mind has associated that event with a
previous experience with fear in it, and up comes the fear, manifesting
as a thought pattern and an unpleasant feeling in our body that makes
us want to avoid the situation.
Clearing
fear is part of a group of sessions of therapy, where we clear the
negative emotions of anger,
fear, hurt and sadness,
and guilt.
There
is a metaphor where negative emotions from the past are stored in the
body, these are the negative emotions associated with unresolved
incidents from the past. Your subconscious mind wants to rationalise
these incidents, so the negative emotions can be cleared from past
events. Clearing negative emotions is like getting rid of the baggage
from the past, so it stops coming up. What I mean by this is that if a
person suddenly gets afraid inappropriately, the chances are that the
incident has reminded the persons subconscious of an incident from the
past where there was fear, and the fear is that past fear resurfacing.
Please
be aware that negative emotions are very necessary, they are unpleasant
feelings, but it is important to know when your boundaries have been
violated in some way. There is no way that any therapy could remove the
capability of experiencing natural emotions, but it is possible to
clear the baggage from the past so you have a choice in the future
about when and where you need to feel fear, that is if you do.
Fear
from the past is bad for the body, because it puts the body into the
flight part of the fight/flight response. This is where your body is in
a state of readiness to run away. Over a long period of time it can
cause damage to the body, simply through not allowing the body to get
into the natural restful state it needs to be in to heal and repair
itself, so it's much safer to let it go. If a person is "good" at fear,
if fear comes up a lot for someone, this can also eventually lead to
phobias which can be psychologically crippling.
There
are many things that people can be afraid of. Some of the most
common are fear of public speaking, fear of failure, fear of success,
fear of confrontation, phobias, and the list could go on and on.
Another
thing about fear, is that we tend to attract the things to us that we
are afraid of, as per self fulfilling prophecies, for example someone
is afraid that they'll fail their driving test, and then demonstrate
how nervous they are during the driving test, instead of demonstrating
their driving competence.
Just
imagine for a moment what it would be like if you could be free from
your fear from the past, if it was gone. What would you do instead at
the times you used to get afraid? What difference would it make to you
and other people in your life?
